The Church Yard

The church yard contains many monuments to persons notable in American, Carolina, and Hillsborough history.  Many members of the Cain, Cameron, Cheshire, Collins, Graham, Ruffin, Strudwick, and Webb families are buried here.  A memorial to Rev. Moses Ashley Curtis is marked by a bronze tablet; the first wife and three children of the Rev. William Mercer Green, first rector of St. Matthew's are buried here.
The walks are graced with many specimen trees and flowering plants.
