Music and Arts at St. Matthew's

   Minimize
Growth in faith may come through artistic expression that moves and inspires us. St. Matthew’s is blessed with wonderful artistic expressions of faith in the beauty of our buildings, grounds, and furnishings, and in the offerings of the artists among and around us. Last year we inaugurated a “Faith & the Arts” program to bring additional support and structure to our artistic offerings. To learn more about faith and the arts at St. Matthew’s, please contact MaryRocap (732‐9308), Megan Whitted (732‐2274), or Brooks Graebner (732‐9308).

Music Programs

The Senior (Adult) Choir is open to all adults and rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.pm.  Music from the Senior Choir is a regular part of the 10:30 worship services on Sunday mornings.  Contact Megan Whitted, 732-2274.

The Youth Choir is open to youth in grades 6 through 12 and rehearses after the 10:30 Sunday morning service on 2nd and 4th Sundays.

The Junior Choir is open to children ages 7-12.  This choir rehearses on the 1st and 3rd Sunday evenings during the Sunday Evening Fellowship Program starting at 5:00 p.m.

The Faith and the Arts Series began in the year 2010 as a result of St. Matthew's desire to be more intentional in our support of the arts themselves, rather than simply thinking of them as something providing support for other activities. We regard the gracious and hospitable use of our church as outreach to some who may not be so accustomed to being in sacred space. We hope to challenge and deepen our own faith and its expression in our lives through exposure to artistic expressions of faith and doubt.

The St. Matthew's Women’s Singing Circle:  Meets on the last Sunday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the church for a service of Compline and time of unaccompanied singing. The Sunday Compline service is a monthly offering of fellowship and spiritual practice which is open to all interested women, whether members of St. Matthew's or not.  Occasional concerts by interested members of the Singing Circle are offered through our Faith and the Arts performing series.  Contact Mary Rocap, 732-9308 or Megan Whitted, 732-2274.
