Repentance: At the River: Struggle and Grace in the Segregated South, Sunday, March 3

March 3rd at the Sunday morning Adult Forum, we will focus on the Lenten theme of repentance, using the Rev. Marcus Borg’s definition of repentance as going beyond the mind that you have. What does it mean to go beyond the mind that you have or the world that you know as an act of repentance and Christian witness?

Come hear about the lives of several Presbyterian ministers who spoke out against segregation in their churches and communities in the 50’s and 60’s in the deeply segregated south, going against the mind of the segregated world around them. Director Carolyn Crowder and producer Rod Murphy will talk about their documentary At the River: Struggle and Grace in the Segregated South, documenting the lives of these ministers and the lasting impact they had. Adult Forum, 9:15, Fellowship Hall.

That afternoon from 4:00- 7:00 in the fellowship hall, there will be a community wide showing of their documentary followed by conversation. Light refreshments and the opportunity to Build Beloved Community are all a part. Come and join us. This is sponsored by the Racial Justice and Reconciliation Committee.
